50 years ago (1976), a group of talented musicians came together in a city in Samogitia: Alvidas Tautkus, Gintautas Tautkus, Antanas Morkevičius, Arūnas Armonas, and Romas Užusienis. The Tautkus brothers took on the leadership of the group.
For a long time, these musicians, singers, and songwriters had to climb complicated stairs and winding paths until finally, on July 16, 1984, the group led by the Tautkus brothers was granted the status of a non-permanent philharmonic ensemble and the name "Rondo" by the Collegium of the Ministry of Culture.
However, the time was not wasted. During that time, songs were born in the group's repertoire, which are still heard on radio stations, online platforms - and ultimately in people's gatherings. We are talking about such songs as: "Laukų gėle", "Celenė", "Egle mano sese", "Margarita", "Mūsų žālias Kaunes", "Lietuva", "Dubysos vaikai", "Žodžiai", "Amžinas laukimas" and many others.
To celebrate the band's 50th anniversary, with the help of Raigardas Tautkus (a young composer, producer, arranger, concertmaster - and ultimately - the son of Alvidas Tautkus), an impressive program was prepared with the Kaunas Champagne Choir.
With this program, anniversary concerts were held in the Kaunas and Vilnius arenas.
After the concerts, some were happy that they had been transported back to their youth, others that the band's music was like pleasant news, others were delighted with the depth of the lyrics, and still others said that there is no such lovely music today.
